Junction
Overview
Junction is where clients can interact with data to test different deal scenarios, focus on hypotheses and the points critical to the deal. And it’s where clients can give feedback and ask questions about the perspectives our experienced global practitioners provide.

Context
Generally, a deal report represents a 300+pages document containing all the details of the deal from Hypothesis and Analyses, to Insights and data graphs.
The report used to be formatted as a PowerPoint document, pulling data visualisation graphs from Tableau.
This way of working can be considered outdated and PwC saw an opportunity to create a tool that can still hold all the details of the reports, but also make the experience more interactive.
Problem statement
The problem at hand centres around the inadequacy of classic deals reports in meeting the demands of contemporary businesses. These reports typically suffer from several limitations, including:
- Stale Data
- Limited Accessibility
- Lack of Interactivity
- Scalability Challenges
Proposition
Junction is a cloud-based platform that presents a new way of creating deals reports.
The objective of Junction is to be an innovative reporting tool that addresses the shortcomings of classic deals reports. Junction will leverage modern technologies and best practices to provide real-time, accessible, interactive, and scalable reporting solutions. The design should prioritise user-friendliness and customisation while ensuring data accuracy and security.

User research / Requirements gathering
Along with the Lead UX designer and the Lead UI designer we’ve conducted user research with the PwC Deals practitioners in order to find the pain points of the classic report and to sketch out the future of the product.

Design System
Based on the Visual Style exploration phase and following the Atomic Design structure, we’ve started working on the design system elements - form elements, buttons, colour palette, grids, typographic scale, icons etc. We’ve designed Junction both in Light and Dark mode.
